7 Mountain Sidetrack

Jesus declared the primary purpose of His first coming when He said "For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost” (Matthew 18:11). Just before this statement Jesus defines what being lost means and warns of the ultimate consequences of holding on to and dying in sin.

"If your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire." (Matthew 18:9)

And then in verses 12 and 13 He talks about the one lost sheep and how the shepherd leaves the 99 to go out into the wilderness to find it and if he finds it he rejoices over that one sheep more than the 99 who did not go astray.

What if you were this one sheep that had gone astray? What if the only people who were able to find you and bring you home didn't care. Or maybe they were more concerned about you liking them than being straight-forward with you about your lost condition. Or what if they decide in their "wisdom" that pointing the way home is irrelevant and affecting the culture right where you are is all that matters? Remember, Jesus said the inward, eternal condition of a person (“It is better for you to enter into life with one eye”) matters infinitely more than the outward condition of a man (“rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire”). So what good is it to affect the external condition and surroundings of a person if they remain lost?

A primer to Symphony 2's default theme

Every theme in Symphony has an important mission: to introduce newcomers to Symphony by way of a working example. Spectrum, the name of this version's default theme, was designed and developed with such a mission in mind by following a set of constraints. A default theme is required to:

  1. be presented in a format that is universally identified and intuitive.
  2. have a clear and simple HTML structure.
  3. demonstrate the fundamental concepts in Symphony—sections, fields, data sources and events—and their interactions together.
  4. avoid functionality that does not have any educational value.

The design

Our first rule states that a default theme needs to be in a format that is instantly recognisable to a user. As a result, all of the themes created in Symphony's history have emphasised a weblog structure. Spectrum continues this tradition.
